raus vaang - row houses
At Raus Vång the site plan for the area was already decided as a detail plan with regulations concerning trafic, recreational ares, housing types, heights, materials etc.
Based on these conditions the architects strived to give the housing streets an intimacy and spatial precision with the aid of walls that narrow the streets visually while defining usable transitional zones between the streets' public spaces and the housing units' very open ground floors with the floor to ceiling windows.
The open ground floors are balanced by the upper floors, which offer increasing privacy - most evident an the three-story houses that culminate with a roof terrace and a wide view over the Øresund strait and Helsingborg.
In contrast the two-story buildings have closed top floors in brick and are only open toward the street via a single large window and brick filagree that provides a more protected, private floor.
