øresundsparken - town planning

The proposal´s main concept is based on the site´s unique location by Kastrup Harbour, Strandparken, the Øresund strait and the new Kastrup Sea Bath scheme just next door.

The point of departure was inspired by this complexity and the corresponding amenity values. The architects wanted to create a basis for a new plan typology that balances between the open and the more urban in a primarily green context, and thus suggest a typology that serves more as a control and planning tool, which primarily shall ensure flexibility, variation and spatial character.

The view over Øresund plays an important role in the project and thus building types are proposed that exploit this exceptional location - tower blocks that rise up and lie a distance from each other, and low row house types that can all enjoy the amenity values.

The individual plots can be built in countless ways to create a rich mixture of housing types that range from tower blocks with more traditional apartments to the familiar row house form to single-family houses.

The inspiration from the allotment garden houses is quite evident, but the office has also included characteristic features from places like Dragør. It is a scheme with varied experiences in the space between the houses with compact street spaces that are precisely defined by the buildings, sheds, walls, hedges and fences as well areas for parking.
